Ian Thorpe set to return ahead of London Olympics

Add to My Stories Five-times Olympic champion Ian Thorpe is set to announce his return to competitive swimming ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.Thorpe is to hold a news conference on Wednesday, when it is expected he will announce his official return to the pool as he bids to compete at his third Olympics having missed the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Thorpe's manager Dave Flaskas confirmed that Thorpe would hold the conference in Sydney to discuss his future, though would not be drawn on what would be said.

Causing a splash: Thorpe will be hoping to draw on his former glories The 'Thorpedo' retired from the pool in 2006 and the Australian hasknocked down several media reports since then which said he wasconsidering a comeback.Flaskas, however, told a Sydney newspaper last month that Thorpe still harboured hope of a competitive return having returned to the pool as he aimed to speed his recovery from a shoulderinjury.. Since then media speculation has gone into overdrive about Thorpereturning in time for London, though he would need toregister for Swimming Australia's drug testing regime by the end of Mayin order to compete at the trials next March.
