Spurs defender Ledley King has to delay operation after losing his passport

Tottenham manager Redknapp - who saw his team ride their luck to win 1-0 at Blackburn in the Barclays Premier League - endured a madcap end to the transfer window as he missed out on late bids for Guisseppe Rossi and Charlie Adam.

'It's a long story but he couldn't find his passport,' bemoaned Redknapp. 'So he hasn't had the operation. 'He didn't have the passport so he couldn't fly.'

Madcap: Harry Redknapp on the touchline at Blackburn King is now due to have the operation next week after finally locating his vital documents. Midfielder Luka Modric, meanwhile, has an outside chance of making the Champions League game against AC Milan in two weeks after having his appendix out. New signing Stephen Pienaar also missed last night's game after being kicked in the head in training.
Redknapp said: The other South African (Bongani Khumalo) thought his head was the ball and knocked him unconscious in training.
