Does huge price tags in IPL justify the spirit of cricket?

DURING THE two day Indian Premier League (IPL) 4 auction, it was money everywhere. Country's top business honchos with their ten teams almost spent millions of dollars for buying the best cricketers in their team. Gautam Gambhir being sold as one of costliest players and even Ravindra Jadeja went for 950,000 dollars.
One question does surely raise some eyebrows, are all these players really worth such huge sums? Many of us might say yes as it is pure business for the business tycoons and it also enables them to showcase their monetary strength.
In the last season of IPL 3, the base price for all teams was five million dollars whereas, in IPL 4, the base price for teams was increased to nine million. It is pertinent to mention here that, by shelling out such huge amounts of money, the owners of the respective teams saw massive profits and were also left assured about the benefits.
The game's outlook was completely changed and it also has been the talk of the town more than the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. People for sure love their favourite players smashing the ball to glory but they do not understand that it is their money that the team owners are capitalising on.
