Kenny Dalglish ready to spend as Liverpool bid to wrap up Luis Suarez deal
Top target: Uruguay striker Luis Suarez (left) could be on his way over to AnfieldThe Uruguay star, 23, is disillusioned with life in Holland and has his heart set on a move to Anfield, having been stripped of the captaincy by his Dutch club. He has told some of his team-mates that he hopes a deal could be done 'within days' but Liverpool and Ajax have yet to agree on a fee. Dalglish confirmed he had held positive talks with Liverpool's principal owners John W Henry and Tom Werner on Wednesday but the manager refused to discuss specific transfer targets. He did, however, expand on the reasons why the club need to buy. Dalglish said: 'It's important for us as a football club to give the supporters a lift and the players a lift. If we can get someone in who will improve what we have, great.
Ready to swoop: Kenny Dalglish wants to bring in reinforcements during the transfer window'Players themselves want competition and they get a lift when a new player comes in. That's what we will try to do but it has got to be someone decent. 'We are not going to get someone in just for the sake of it. Everyone would love to see someone brought in who is really going to whet the appetite and we will try our best to do that.' Should Liverpool complete a deal for Suarez, it would ease the burden on star striker Fernando Torres. Liverpool have scored three goals or more only twice in the Barclays Premier League this season and they will face Wolves tomorrow without suspended captain Steven Gerrard.
