Paes-Bhupathi enter Oz Open final

NEW DELHI: Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi are on course for their maiden Australian Open title together as they advanced to the finals after a hard-fought victory over the combine of Max Mirnyi ( Belarus) and Daniel Nestor ( Canada) on Thursday.

The third seeded Indian pair, who teamed up together after nine years in a bid to add the only Grand Slam title missing in their cupboard, defeated the second seeded pair 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.

The Indian Express got off to a good start registering the first set in their favour but went down fighting in the next set and came back strongly in the third and last set to win the match.

The India duo will face the top seeded pair of Bryan Brothers of USA in the summit clash.

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan won the semifinal match with a straight set victory over Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer.

Giraldo reaches first ATP final in Santiago

SANTIAGO: Eighth-seeded Santiago Giraldo of Colombia reached his first ATP final by defeating No. 5 Potito Starace of Italy 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1 in the semifinals of the Movistar Open on Saturday. Giraldo, past the quarterfinals for the third time this season, earned his first win against Starace after losing their first meeting in 2008. In the other semifinal, No. 6 Tommy Robredo of Spain met No. 7 Fabio Fognini of Italy. Robredo was trying to reach his 17th final and Fognini - like Giraldo - was trying to reach his first.

I will retire from East Bengal, says Bhutia
